Mary. John. James. Matthew. Peter. Martha. No, these are not the people who accompanied Jesus. They are a social worker for Catholic Charities, a pastor, an elementary school teacher, a seminarian, a hospice worker and a marriage prep volunteer. Each day they contribute to the vibrancy of our Catholic community in northeast Kansas.
Many people come to the Archdiocese for assistance with their heartbreaks and fears – a death in the family, marriage problems, addictions, loss of work, grief over an abortion and every imaginable pain. They also come to celebrate their happiness and hope – baptism, marriage, graduation and many other moments of joy. It is at these important moments that we joyfully offer care and comfort, wisdom and understanding, knowledge and peace to those we serve.
Catholics in northeast Kansas are rediscovering the joy of believing. Share this joy with others by your gift to the Archbishop's Call to Share. Your sacrificial gift will bring the healing presence and the joyful jubilation of our Catholic faith in the name of the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ. Your gift to the Archbishop’s Call to Share will help ensure the resources necessary for these works of mercy and charity. It is an act of faith that bears fruit in ways sometimes known only to God.
By giving, you will join Mary, John, James, Matthew, Peter and Martha who work tirelessly in our Archdiocese joyfully serving others. Through your sacrificial gift, someone will come to know the “goodness and kindness of a loving God” (Ti. 3:4). Please peruse this website and make your gift today.
With gratitude for your love for Jesus and His Church, I remain
Sincerely yours in Jesus, the Lord of Life,

Pope Francis on the Joy of Believing
In his homily on Palm Sunday 2013, Pope Francis spoke of the joy that is ours in Jesus Christ: "Jesus is God, but he lowered himself to walk with us. He is our friend, our brother. He illumines our path here. And in this way we have welcomed him today. And here the first word that I wish to say to you: joy! Do not be men and women of sadness: a Christian can never be sad! Never give way to discouragement! Ours is not a joy born of having many possessions, but from having encountered a Person: Jesus, in our midst; it is born from knowing that with him we are never alone, even at difficult moments, even when our life’s journey comes up against problems and obstacles that seem insurmountable, and there are so many of them! And in this moment the enemy, the devil, comes, often disguised as an angel, and slyly speaks his word to us. Do not listen to him! Let us follow Jesus! We accompany, we follow Jesus, but above all we know that he accompanies us and carries us on his shoulders. This is our joy, this is the hope that we must bring to this world. Please do not let yourselves be robbed of hope! Do not let hope be stolen! The hope that Jesus gives us."
